Huawei’s Mate X is on sale in China, but it has already been sold out

Eventually, Huawei’s Mate X is on sale in China, but it has already been sold out.    Motorola’s latest Razr may be the biggest star of the world of folding phones, but Huawei also has some big news: Mate X has finally gone on sale in China for a long time, and it’s already sold out.

The phone has a Kirin 980 cpu, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB storage and 5 G connectivity, powered by a 4,500 mAh battery and super-quick 55W charging.

The device uses the Kirin 980 instead of the newer 990 at this price is a bit disappointing, but it is still a powerful processor.

The folding screen spans a diagonal of 8 inches, or one of 6.6 inches when folded. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, when the device is folded, the bendy panel will be exposed. Replacing a broken screen would cost 2.699 yen or about 380 dollars. Not awful, but not cheap either.

By way of comparison, the Galaxy fold of Samsung costs $1,980 including free screen repairs within the first year of using the device, and one $150 repair afterwards.

In the days and weeks to come, Huawei is expected to replenish inventory with more flash sales, but there is still no news as to whether or when the phone will exit the Chinese market.
